Goalkeeper training questions.
Here are the goalkeeper training questions parents and keepers ask us most, all in one place. Can’t find yours? Call 604-379-1656 or send us a message.
Getting started.
New to KeeperTec? Start here. These answers cover groups, private sessions, payments and where we train.
My child is new to goalkeeping. Where do we start?
Tell us a little about their age, experience and what they would like help with. A coach can guide the next step and confirm suitable training before you register.
Can my child do both group and private sessions?
Yes! This combination is a great idea. It allows students to gain the benefits of being with a group as well as the specialized focus found in private sessions.
How are small groups organized?
The Tec Program uses small groups of up to six students. Development stage and training needs matter alongside age. KeeperTec confirms placement so goalkeepers can support and challenge each other.
Is there a payment plan?
Yes. All group options have a monthly payment plan option. If you commit to a 3, 6 or 12 month private session membership, this also has a payment plan option.
What is a private session membership?
You are committing to a long-term contract of 3, 6 or 12 months and securing a set day, time and frequency (weekly or bi-weekly). This is your spot for the length of the contract. Please contact us to see what’s available or to be put on the waitlist.
Where does training take place?
Regular goalkeeper training runs indoors at The Box, 204–5529 192 Street in Cloverdale, Surrey.
Can adults train at KeeperTec?
Yes. KeeperTec works with youth and adult goalkeepers. Adults are welcome to register for Private Sessions.
How do registration and payments work?
All registration is completed online through Amilia (SmartRec). Open the links and complete registration for groups, private sessions and seasonal programs there. You can also access your account for details of your registered programs at any time, online or by downloading their app.
What if we miss a session or need to cancel?
Review the terms attached to your specific program or membership on the booking page before paying. If something is unclear, contact KeeperTec for confirmation rather than assuming sessions can be refunded or made up.
How long will it take for my goalkeeper to show improvement?
Every student is different, and most will get out of it what they put into it. We have found it takes an average of 6 months to see consistent change.
Weekly small groups.
Our weekly group program for youth goalkeepers, with 6 students or fewer in each group.
Schedule & availability?
Three terms across the training year. View current term dates and group times on the booking page.
Pricing & payment?
Current prices, terms and availability are shown on the booking page before payment. All group options have a monthly payment plan option.
What to bring?
Your normal soccer boots that you wear on turf fields are fine. Also, don’t forget your gloves and water. All Tec Program students must have a Purple Training Top. We recommend owning a pair of tights for training to reduce turf burn. Shin guards are optional.
Getting into the right group?
If you are new or unsure which group to choose, contact KeeperTec with some background about your goalkeeper: birth year, the level their club has assigned, years as a goalkeeper and whether they’ve had goalkeeper-specific training before.
Missed sessions?
Registering for the Tec Program is the same as registering for a team. You have taken a spot on that team, and it will not be given to another student. If you miss a session, it is the same as missing a team practice. You will be missed, but we don’t offer make-up sessions or refunds.
Can parents watch?
Yes, parents are welcome to stay and watch, but must stay outside the bay door during group sessions.
One-on-one training.
Private goalkeeper training for youth and adult keepers, booked online.
Schedule & availability?
Please view our booking calendar for details on openings. If you’re looking to make a long-term monthly commitment, contact us.
What if I'm injured?
We are able to adapt all private sessions to your needs. We can adapt sessions physically to avoid using the injured part. Or we can do a classroom session focusing on the mental side of goalkeeping, or even do a game review if you have match footage.
Can parents watch?
Yes, parents are welcome to stay and watch from inside during private sessions.
What to bring?
Your normal soccer boots that you wear on turf fields are fine. Don’t forget your gloves and water. For private sessions, wear something comfortable for goalkeeping. We recommend owning a pair of tights for training to reduce turf burn. Shin guards are optional.
What does private goalkeeper training cost?
All pricing and payment information can be found in our booking calendar and membership options. Memberships of 3, 6 or 12 months have a payment plan option. Please contact us before purchasing a membership to make sure a spot is available.
What do the levels of instructors mean?
Our instructors have different levels of experience. The listed level reflects that.
What ages do you work with?
Students can start private sessions in Grade 3, as long as they are able to focus for an hour and follow instruction. Students can start group sessions in Grade 4. Otherwise, we work with all ages, from youth and university players to mature adults looking to improve.
How many sessions should I book?
We find a minimum of 6 sessions brings the best results. This way our instructors are able to create a clear developmental curriculum for the individual goalkeeper. Memberships are the best way to create consistent understanding.
